Trekking Benasque Valley

The Benasque Valley, in the heart of the Pyrenees, is home to the most significant number of 3,000-meter-high peaks in the Pyrenees, distributed in three groups of peaks around the Maladetas, Posets and Perdiguero massifs.

In this Trekking through the Benasque Valley, we will enjoy the spectacular landscape richness of the Posets-Maladeta Natural Park. This mountain group brings together the largest concentration of peaks over 3,000 meters in the entire Pyrenees. The Posets Maladeta Natural Park offers us an impressive set of 13 glaciers, 95 ibones (lakes of glacial origin) and waterfalls of great beauty. Deep valleys, high peaks, rivers, meadows, forests...

In addition, we will have the experience of spending a night at the Cap de Llauset Refuge, the highest year-round mountain refuge in the Pyrenees (2425m), surrounded by several 3000m peaks, including Aneto. It has been built modularly, with materials from the valley, making it more respectful of the environment.

Itinerary description

Trekking in Benasque Valley, enjoying the best routes of the Posets-Maladeta Natural Park, and experience spending a night at the Cap de Llauset mountain hut.

Day 1. ASCENT TO PICO SALVAGUARDIA. 15KM +950M -950M

Description:

Meeting with our guide at the Hotel Ciria in Benasque. We will leave Benasque towards Llanos del Hospital, an old hostel that welcomed merchants and pilgrims who crossed the Pyrenees towards France. We will look out at the border crossing called Puerto or Portillón de Benasque, where we will have a good view of Luchon to reach the summit of Salvaguardia and return on a circular route to Llanos. Return to Benasque. Dinner and accommodation.

Day 2. HIKE TO ESTÓS VALLEY AND IBONES DE BATISIELLES. 18KM +900M – 900M

Description:

Breakfast. It is one of the most beautiful and representative valleys of the medium and high mountains of the Benasque area. Deciduous forests of beech and fir trees, along with undergrowth made up of juniper and boxwood, will give way in height to the emblematic black pine. A route that will take us to see the Batisielles Lake with the Perramó needle in the background and even see the Turmo cabin or the Estós hut. Return to Benasque, dinner and accommodation.

Day 3. HIKE TO BARBARUENS VALLEY, BALSA LA MORA & CIRCO DE ARMEÑA. 13KM +900M -900M

Description:

Breakfast. Hike to the Armeña circus and its picturesque mountain hut, an enclave of high geological value. We will pass through "La Balsa la Mora", learning about its history and legend and walk through its meadows, grazing places for livestock, with its huts. Return to Benasque, dinner and accommodation.

Day 4. HIKE TO CAP DE LLAUSET MOUNTAIN HUT. OVERNIGHT AT MOUNTAIN HUT. 7KM +800M

Description:

Breakfast. Route to the Cap de Llauset mountain hut through "Coronas". We will enter the southern area of the Maladetas massif to spend the night in the newest natural park mountain hut. We will pass at the foot of well-known peaks such as Aneto, Tempestades, Margalida or Pico Russel. Dinner and overnight at the mountain hut.

Day 5. ASCENT TO PICO VALLIBIERNA. 11,5KM +700M -1.000M

Description:

Breakfast. To finish this Trekking, we will do the climb to Vallibierna Peak, one of the three best-known peaks in the valley, with spectacular views of the Maladetas massif with Aneto as the most representative, as well as Posets and Sierra Negra and Chía. Transfer to Benasque and end of services.

DEPOSIT

A deposit of 20% is required to reserve a place on the tour. The Deposit should be paid immediately to ensure that the tour company Rumbo a Picos can confirm your reservation.

FINAL PAYMENT

Final payment must be made not later than 30 days prior to the tour start date.

CANCELLATION POLICY

If the client cancels his/her booking prior to the tour start date, to cover the tour company’s costs & administrative expenses, the company will retain for a cancellation prior to 90days/€50, 60days/€100, 30days/€150 and will refund to the client all other payments received by the company from the client.
If the client cancels his/her booking within 30 days of the tour start date, the tour company will not make any refund to the client.
The tour company reserves the right to modify the tour program & the itinerary in the event of circumstances outside of their control, such as Force Majure, severe or unsuitable weather or any other circumstances they consider necessary to ensure the safety of the tour participants.
If a participant decides to abandon the tour for whatever reason, he/she should inform the Guide in writing of their decision. Any related expenses must be paid by the participant.
