01 day
Selva de Oza – Gabardito 15,3 Km
⇑710m ⇓340m
Meeting up with the group at 7.30 in Hecho town. We begin this fantastic trek walking into the Oza forest near Castillo d’Acher, the most iconic mountain of the Hecho Valley. We will also walk through one of the less known and surprising places in the area, Secñus & Taxeras. Dinner and accommodation at Gabardito mountain hut.
02 day
Gabardito – Lizara. 9,6 Km
⇑700m ⇓550m
Breakfast. This is the shortest stage if you don’t climb Bisaurin. From Gabardito to Lízara is approximately four hours’ walk, plus an extra three hours if you make the ascent to Bisaurin. This is a worthwhile climb if you can make it, as it’s the area’s highest summit and has spectacular views. Dinner and accommodation in Lizara Refuge.
03 day
Lizara – Somport. 17,4 Km
⇑820m ⇓540m
Breakfast. This is one of the most beautiful stages since both the Valle de los Sarrios and the Ibón de Estanés become overwhelmed. It is not too hard, but it is long. You start going up around 2 hours, walk through the Paul de Bernera and the Valle de los Sarrios, go down to the ibón and cross the Bosque de las Hayas towards the port of Somport. Dinner and accommodation at Albergue Aysa en Somport.
04 day
Somport – Arlet. 18,9 Km
⇑1150m ⇓780m
Breakfast. We enter the French slope, with its dense forests, its shepherd’s huts of sheep and its fantastic cheese of the country. The circus of Aspe and the valley of Espelunguera are two of the most beautiful points of this stage, without disregard for the place where the refuge is, the ibón de Arlet, with impressive views of the Midi d ‘Ossau. Also, when you are in the refuge, in 20 minutes, you can reach the border and, if the afternoon is clear, take a look at Aguas Tuertas, an impressive corner of the Western Valleys Natural Park. Dinner and accommodation in Arlet (Arlet Refuge)
05 day
Arlet – Lescun. 19,5 Km
⇑520m ⇓1640m
Breakfast. We will walk almost parallel to the border of the two slopes of the Pyrenees. Man has travelled the ports of Saoubathou and Lo Palo throughout history: to go to work or to flee the wars, these steps sometimes took the lives of walkers if the escape was made in winter, but they also witnessed the solidarity of the anonymous neighbours from both sides, who risked their lives to help the evaded. The descent into the valley of Lescun plunges us into the quiet life of the Béarn people. The steep summits of the Circ de Lescun contrast with the intense green of the meadows, dotted with houses called “bordas” and cattle grazing. Dinner and accommodation in Camping Lescun.
06 day
Lescun – Linza. 16,6 Km
⇑1290m ⇓790m
Breakfast. The stage starts with a paved road, but the impressive view of the Circ de Lescun, with the solid rocks of “Les Billaires”, “Mesa de los Tres Reyes” and “Petrachema” will delight the way. In the plain of Ansabere, we can take the last chance to buy French cheese. From here, the ascent to “Las Agujas” will require more effort. We enter Spain again and descend towards Linza among hundred-year-old beech trees. Dinner and accommodation in Linza Refuge.
07 day
Linza – Selva de Oza. 15,3 Km
⇑800m ⇓1050m
Breakfast. Just in front of the Hostel, take the path to Paso del Caballo and follow towards Anzotiello, Mallo Gorreta, Quimboa and other summits that look like an insurmountable barrier. On the way down to Guarinza, we will see different megalithic vestiges. Once in Selva de Oza, we can enjoy a cold beer under the majestic beech tree of the wooden cantine. The trek is done. Transfer to Hecho town and end of services.
IMPORTANT There is possible to book accommodation the night before the starting date.
