PHYSICAL FITNESS

Customers should be in a good physical shape, ideally with some level of hill-walking experience or at least be healthy and do exercise several times per week.

WEATHER & WALKING CONDITIONS

The Picos de Europa is a mountain range close to the Cantabrian sea & its weather is influenced by it & other climatic conditions.  Significant temperature variations are normal in this area ranging from 5-25 degrees night to mid-day.  As such weather conditions can never be guaranteed.  Walkers should acquaint themselves of average conditions for the time of year they intend walking in the Picos & plan appropriately for the forecasts for the days they intend walking.

GUIDES 

Guides will give a briefing each day in advance of the planned walks & advise walkers of the route, difficulty, weather conditions & safety & health.  Walking routes and adventure activities will be adapted to the prevailing conditions & may be cancelled if the conditions are determined as being unsuitable or too risky due to weather conditions or the capability of the customers or for any other matter relating to his assessment of unacceptable risks.

HEALTH CONDITIONS

It is the responsibility of each customer to ensure that he/she advises the tour leader of any medical or heath condition which may have an impact on his/her capability to complete the tour, including but not limited to Allergies, Heart, Respiration & or any other relevant matter.  The personal Health & Safety of each walker is their own personal responsibility.

INSURANCE

The price paid for the tour includes a basic level of insurance that covers rescue in the mountains, transfer to a medical centre & medical attention in an Emergency Department of the Spanish Medical Services. The insurance does not cover accidents or injury incurred on flights or land transport to or between the hill walking routes or airport & does not cover loss of luggage, medical repatriation or follow up Medical care.  Each participant should provide themselves with the level of Insurance cover as each participant requires. The participant must be aware of the risks of hill-walking.  We recommend & advise each participant to ensure that he/she has adequate insurance cover.
